“Time is the vehicle, the medium for the Absolute or Supreme Consciousness to be and to become and it is knowledge of this principle which integrates the Spiritual and Physical dimensions and grants the individual a direct experience of the Supreme within the physical manifestation.”
~ Patricia Norelli-Bachelet

For an inkling, which is a measure of time that is way less than the time it takes for paint to dry, or grass to grow, or for a pot of water to boil, I thought I was adventurous an adventurous spirit. Then I listened to the Lives Well Lived podcast hosted by Peter Singer & Kasia de Lazari Radek interview Meg Smaker about her feature Documentary UNREDACTED.
Meg is a firefighter and has taken her elemental knowledge to Stanford and around the world (Yemen, Afghanistan, Columbia, Cuba) in an effort to understand “the other.” When I heard she had been cancelled I automatically assumed it was far right extremists who organized and blocked her film, forcing the 2022 Sundance Festival to make an apology for accepting her work in the first place, and giving her access to their prestigious platform. Instead, it was a left wing rebellion led by Arab and Muslim filmmakers who assumed, without seeing the film, that she was a poser, with a “white savior” complex and their protests created a woke wave that broke over Meg, leaving her out to sea, and emotionally flooded in the wake of losing everything she had worked for over a six year period. Her story reflects a particularly long and difficult Dark Night.
I guess my approach to life is a lot less adventurous in reality than in my mind if I am to be honest. Until recently seeking security has been a priority in the sense of getting a job and making a living more than chasing a dreams or pursuing my passion because loved ones have depended on me.
However, I have been chipping away at this astrology thing for a while, and now with accelerated attention. Meg’s story is certainly as inspiration to listen to the on many levels, but something tells me she hasn’t stopped to smell the roses or consider such philosophical topics as conveyed in the classic Pink Floyd song “Time” from their album Dark Side of the Moon.
“Chipping away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way…
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.” 1
