Can’t Wait!

“Patience is the companion of wisdom.”

~ Saint Augustine

The last time I took a risk was ironically deciding “not” to change what I was doing, despite being miserable in my role and instead choosing to wait it out, for clearer skies and increased visibility. I’ve learned from experience that making changes, just for the sake of avoiding being uncomfortable is not a great strategy. But it’s also difficult because the whole “get out of your comfort zone” thing can be so misplaced and over played. So, I stayed, and waited. Then I applied to a program to become a therapist.

Within the astrological world, psychotherapy has become increasingly criticized, and with good reason. Therapists, astrologers argue, have a disadvantage without access to the shared map of experience that astrologers enjoy. At the same time, psychologists can be scathingly critical of astrology, also with good reason, as being too steeped in pseudoscience. This is true, especially for practitioners who want to hang every psychodynamic expression on an astrological hat hook.

What I have come to learn is that both psychotherapists and astrologers are simply using models to help explain experience in the world, and that no model is complete.

We’ll see how it works out for me, it’s still too soon. I’ve not even been accepted into the program, but I am hopeful. The application is complete! It’s a big risk! And once again, I need to wait… but man oh man the skies are BLUE and CLEAR, like the attunement you feel when perfectly pitched Tibetan bowls sing.
