“Good decisions come from experience, and experience comes from bad decisions.”

Whenever the Moon is Void of Course in a Horary chart, the interpretation usually suggests “nothing will come of the matter in question.” Nothing good! Nothing bad! What it means is circumstances will change making the question insignificant or the question will be “abandoned,” overwhelmed by other concerns or simple resolved in an unremarkable way.
In the hierarchy of all of the dimensions of the chart, the Moon is one of the most important symbols of Horary. It is the representation of a symbolic function for gaining light and giving form to an answer; it symbolizes action. Its function however, is limited to the time remaining within the Sign of its placement at the Horary moment. If the Moon will not apply to any conjunction, sextile, trine, or opposition with any other body within the chart before it leaves the Sign, the Moon is “void of course,” and the chart is invalid.
Horary Astrology is itself bizarrely coincidental concerning questions we have about decisions we need to make to take some action, or not. I recently applied to a program that I am filled with apprehension and ambivalence about, but remembered this little pearl of wisdom from Horary practice. There are other Horary rules of course, a veritable string of rules long enough to make a pearl necklace. But for our sake, as far as this brief note goes, I zoomed in on the Moon. It was all good! The Moon made trines and sextiles before turning void of course the next day. Typical for me I check my inner compass first, and then. only after deciding and taking action, I go to the charts to see how I did.
This same decision was approached almost twenty-years ago. I wish I had followed through back then to complete the program. Maybe it would have helped the process to check the charts in advance. However, at the same time, the program has evolved and so have I. There is also an argument to be made that nothing I might have done would have changed the matter that much, because it just wasn’t time — yet!
