Knowledge is Power

“Knowledge is not power, it is only potential. Applying that knowledge is power. Understanding why and when to apply that knowledge is wisdom!”

~ Takeda Shingen

We have all heard it before, many times. Knowledge is Power! But the thing is this, as soon as you think you really know something, everything changes and it’s back to the drawing board.

I have studied psychology, markets, and astrology for decades. My studies however, have always been haphazard and disjointed. Back in 2020, just as the pandemic was reaching its peak, I decided to get organized and make a concerted effort of pulling together the my sources into a coherent view.

My astrological framework borrows heavily from Noel Tyl and Grant Lewi. Recently, I have added Ivy Jacobsen’s work to my quiver. That decision, to organize the astrological literature in a way that reflects its essential structure and flow, allows a more systematic way of thinking about astrology that has powerfully influenced my perspective. Importantly, everything I’ve learned is viewed within a much larger context, The Gnostic Circle is the main reference for me, a cosmic backdrop if you will. Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet’s work provides the most extraordinary and complete cosmic perspective imaginable, encapsulating all previous astrological treatises before or since, including the revivalist movement promoted by “traditional astrologers.”

My journey in discovering the markets and studying market behavior has followed a serpentine path as well. From Eugene Fama and his infamous board of directors, six of whom have won the Nobel Prize, at Dimensional Funds, to Ray Merriman’s cycles research and “geocosmics” (astrology). Two unlikely bedfellows, Fama and Merriman, Dimensional’s tagline is Financial Science, wherein Ray’s astrology obviously has a reputation of being built on pseudoscience. But Ray’s work over five decades has provided empirical studies that are probably just as Nobel worthy as anything Dimensional has published in my humble opinion. No one has put these two approaches together before but I think there is tremendous value in doing so.

Then there is this whole psychological framework we live in, where entire generations have come of age beneath an edifice erected (Freudian?) around the parents, “blaming the parents,” etc., versus say, another pseudoscience called Nuero-Linguistic Programming, or NLP wherein the “structure” of language is “magic,” not the position of the planets, the planets, or the movement of market prices. NLP believes in writing a new story by using agency over our emotional/mental states of being, and not just letting life (transits) happen to us. To do this, we need to develop strategies modeled after others who have gone before us, and accomplished what it is we are setting out to do, or some variation.

Imagine building a framework to bring these diverse disciplines together.
