On the Circle

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

~ Carl Rogers

Coping with negative feelings or moodiness is such an art, and especially for the Water Signs who have their Moon in Fire Signs. There can be a smoldering of the personality reminiscent of a campfire doused with rain the “morning after”; soft sizzles and pops, with swirls of smoke and the aroma of charred wood fill the air.

Not every event in life is traumatic, but negative moods seem to be “triggered” by micro-triggers that act like trip wires to bigger feelings we hold within our hearts and minds. Often these big feelings are related to past difficulties so many times negative feelings aren’t even about the triggers themselves but instead about something else entirely, something we are reminded of that happened a long time ago.

I think one of the best coping methodologies is simply to build awareness of the things that trigger us. And to learn new ways of responding that “feel” more empowering and affirming, less reactive, less at affect.

There are numerous models in psychology that can prove helpful to one degree or another and different models in astrology can help seekers link triggers to past events that corresponds with the symbolic language in remarkable ways. But it cannot be overstated that Astrology is a synthetic model, meant to bring universal wisdom to life, through the lived experience — to suggest “MASSIVE MAGIC” or that “I have the recipe for ALL the ANSWERS” seems so disingenuous and worse, sensationalized astrology in unhelpful ways. But nevertheless these kinds of presentations tend to generate massive followings.

I guess people believe in magic, almost like their moods and negative feelings can be instigated by a Mars transit, Mercury Retrograde, or even a solar eclipse. To be sure, life events often correspond with the symbolic movement of the spheres, but how we respond can be inspired, not just mechanical. Astrology doesn’t dictate our responses—it illuminates patterns, offering us the opportunity to make conscious choices. Developing awareness of triggers and understanding “where we are on the circle” can help us shift, realign, and reorganize our emotional and mental bodies in meaningful ways. But don’t be fooled by easy come-ons or oversimplified solutions—this work is about something deeper: inner growth and reconnecting ourselves to the cosmos and each other in ways that reflect a healthier, more harmonious relationship with life.
