“We must be willing to get rid of the life we planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”
~ Joseph Campbell

“What do you anticipate for yourself, say in the next six months?”
This is the operative question to ask near the end of a consultation, and it is meant to elicit an future oriented attitude, or a sense of direction. In some respects, the astrologer by way of this example defers to the source itself if you will, the individual as opposed to the stars. This is the point in my work when the consultation comes to life, through the eyes and vision of my client, in their own words. Based on the transits and progressions ahead, we of course mapped it all out in time, but rather than me spouting off nonsense as if I am the Great Oz, I find it much more empowering for clients when they are able to tap into their own personality resources and turn the universal spigot on full force.
I have a big decision to make in the next 6 months!
There is a day job that is coming to an end, an education opportunity that will follow, enabling licensing as a psychotherapist, simultaneous with a launch, or a shift in gears in my writing, speaking, and consultation activities.
The next 6 months I feel are an important setup for the next 6 years which will be vital for all of us in terms of the geopolitical realm, and with all the excitement of technological breakthroughs. Who truly benefits from these breakthroughs remains to be seen as the economy appears to be lurching with a great leap forward. But the displacement and disruption of such massive change will create unmitigated chaos and upheaval. A word of caution: The Human Being cannot be left behind!
The next big thing? The next big growth area?On the other side of the cataclysm into which all our hopes and aspirations are about to fall? It has got to be how to better serve one another, how in fact not to leave the Human Being behind.
Joseph Campbell was a young man and had just graduated from New York University when he moved to Woodstock, New York to live a bohemian life in a rented cabin. He read vigorously, wrote, and practiced a spiritual and intellectual life of contemplation. It’s how he weathered the storm of the Great Depression.
Most people then or now do not enjoy the luxury of economic and financial stability that enables them to avoid the pressures of finding work to afford even a modest lifestyle. Campbell not only had financial support he also had a scholarly network by dint of his education and access to travel which insulated him from the widespread hardships many people experienced during this time. He counted among his friends John Steinbeck for brief time, until he was unable to control his impulses, consumed as it were by A Fire in the Mind, as Stephen and Robin Larsen so aptly put it in their authorized biography. The Larsen’s compound in New Paltz New York, aimed to replicate aspects of Campbell’s work and introduce new audiences to his approach of exploring mythology, symbolism and personal growth. I’m not saying we are headed for another Great Depression or Global Financial Crisis, but it is fair to say that things will get a whole lot worse before they get better. And, if like Joseph Campbell, you are blessed with an inheritance that brings financial stability, you’ll be fine.
Nevertheless, the next 6 months will proffer some significant change as suggested by the astrological weather (transits and progressions). As an astrologer I am perhaps more aware of the patterns as they unfold for others than I am for myself. The cobbler with holes in his shoes is such an appropriate metaphor for a Pisces (Pisces rules the feet). But I also am adamant about living life to the fullest irrespective of where the planets are, to use the sky as a mirror, to metaphorically fix my hair (or makeup), and possibly brush my teeth, but not necessarily drive my Karma. The trend with seekers seems to be to let Jesus, or Jupiter or anyone take the wheel. Astrology, or life for that matter, may not be as much about belief as the good book says.
We will have Jupiter sextile Neptune from March to April, and then in June, Jupiter will square Saturn and Neptune, which are traveling together for a time as they ingress into Aries. These transits auspiciously aspect sensitive points on my chart, and all under the rubric of Solar Arc ☉=☿
Radiant thoughts and ideas put the identity on display! Sound, practical judgement.
The energy for the ideas emerging seemed to hatch last spring when Neptune crossed my Sun and Uranus entered the 7th house (opposed my Ascendant), then in the fall transiting Mars reached my natal Mars for a final pass (Too much for this post but Mars follows a distinct pattern of returns making some returns more significant others). otothers).thothotherothers
Transiting Pluto all the while has been doing some heavy lifting at 00 Aquarius where the epic Jupiter-Saturn conjunction occurred on 12/21/2020, before Pluto moved into the neighborhood 01/20/2024. This area marks the 3rd House cusp of communication on my chart. This observation together with the upcoming eclipse series through my 3rd — 9th House axis might be well timed for furthering studies, writing, communication, and publishing efforts. Astro-seek.com has a nice feature on their website that allows users to view the “impact” of eclipses and retrogrades to the natal chart. Check it out when you are contemplating your own 6 months ahead.
My main challenge will be not to get too many irons in the fire, or falling between two stools, idioms for spreading myself too thin.
