Be the Light!

The Greatest Gift

Immediately what comes to mind when I consider what the greatest gift someone might give me is to think, “well, life itself, of course.”

I guess this makes me pro-life which I’ve never thought about in just this way. But if from my own perspective, that is to say “My Life,” I am to treasure this “gift” then I suppose I need to honor the life giving source, and by living the best version of myself that I can. I suppose this makes me pro-choice!

This reverie has nothing to do with a woman’s decision on whether or not to carry a baby to term. I’m not a woman and cannot imagine the awe and responsibility required to make such a life affirming decision, nor the dread and anguish involved in the termination of a pregnancy.

What I can say emphatically is that we are light, and that the light passes through us and between us everyday. Men in particular, are like lightning rods in this respect and our participation, albeit mostly unconscious, most of the time, is to pass along this light which enters the crown of the head and exits through nature’s scepter into the womb of creation.* Yes! A majestic, and miraculous coronation.

I do think that as we become more conscious and this experience becomes more pervasive that abortion becomes a thing of the past. Not because of legislation but because people become more conscious of the role they play in creation. Not because we hide behind religions dogma, or because we are forced to make a false choice, a logical fallacy between say choosing life (pro) versus not choosing life (choice). There are usually more options available than the binary ways we have grown accustomed to looking at things.

If the greatest gift someone can give me is life, and we are light, then isn’t the greatest gift someone can give me also light? This realization begins with the person who was the lightening rod for me, who in the act of a storm provided the ultimate protection for this light, to let the light pass through and to guard the receptacle against a direct strike which might have otherwise injured or harmed the womb that I would nestle in. But it is a small matter of discharging the light into the womb and an altogether magnificent matter (the word matter comes from the Latin word “materia” which means “substance” or “material”, The Latin word “materia” is related to “mater” which means “mother,” suggesting the idea of “origin” or source of something.) to receive and accept the light. The Sacred Feminine participates in the miracle of gestation, in the process of transformation of light. So, as I grow in consciousness and realize more about this process, the rod and receptacle are to be revered: honor thy mother and father.

Unfortunately, most fathers and mothers ‘go’ about creating storms (sex) together unconsciously and so the act is not driven by anything close to being consciously aware. But that’s nature’s trick or deception to keep the story going, because we’d probably have already gone extinct as a species if we had to wait for consciousness to arrive first.

Let’s consider that ancient philosophers understood that the life giving properties of the Sun were represented in the vital source of sustenance and symbol of fertility, the cow. It is fascinating that the Sanskrit word for cow is ‘go,’ which means light. Metaphorically, the cow refers to rays of light, or the Sun in the Rigveda. So, I suppose what I should be most grateful for… the greatest gift ever given to any of us, is the Sun, the Light of Consciousness.

As an illuminated aura of the consciousness-force, the Sun draw us into existence, unveiling the CORE of our being, a future self, integrated with all future selves, and their parts, the essence of an emergent magnetic power. e plurabis unum! Identity is a radiant work in progress, a journey of self-discovery. The Sun represents the Divine Will, our Creative Spark, and illuminates our relationship with authority, the INNER ONE.**

In your astrological chart the Sun’s position suggests how you shine (by sign) and where the light illuminates (by house).

Today, be the gift that keeps on giving for someone in your life, like the Sun.

Be the light!
